Hello

Part of the reason for doing this bike trip is to create awareness about the Peel River watershed and specifically the Three Rivers Project.

Please see below . . .  it is a critical time for expression. Take some time to watch the video. It is really cool!

Some of you may live thousands of miles away from the Peel River but you still have influence in this process. If fact, you may have a greater influence than the Yukoners by numbers alone. It is likely that you will never visit the Snake, Wind or Bonnet Plume Rivers but the value is setting these lands aside for protection. Imagine what Ontario would look like with Algonquin or Alberta without Jasper. 100 years ago people expressed the value of protection and the country benefits from that today.

On another note, we are a week and a half away from the "Ride to Conquer Cancer". Vicki and Kari are ready and have raised over $5600. I am still a little short of my goal but working towards $2500 - so if you are feeling generous, don't be shy! We will be going to Toronto a week Friday. The 200 km ride begins - rain or shine - on Saturday morning from the CNE. Saturday night is 100 km away at Mohawk College in Hamilton and Sunday afternoon we ride another 110 km into Niagara Falls.

As a last note, it is two months tomorrow that I will be leaving Dawson and starting the 700 km ride to Inuvik!

LAST CHANCE TO SUPPORT YUKON PROTECTION IN PEEL WATERSHED PLAN

WHAT YOU CAN DO

We are one step closer to determining the future of Yukon's renowned Peel Watershed, home of the Three Rivers

Thanks to your continued support, the Draft Land Use plan for the Peel Watershed is complete but it doesn't yet do enough for conservation. It calls for protecting 11% of the Peel Watershed. Is this enough? 95% of previous respondents expressed their desire for at least 50% protection

Many of you have written before. Thank you! It is more critical now than ever that your support for the Peel Watershed is heard loud and clear.

This is your last chance to tell the Peel Planning Commission what you think the future of the Peel Watershed should look like. Then it is in the hands of affected governments for final approval this fall.

Please write to the Peel Watershed Planning Commission one last time before June 30.

Cheers, thanks and happy riding.

David
