Hello
All
The
"Links"
page of my website is for links I support
and for ventures (Cameron Helps) . . . things I
think are just cool (Michael Franti) . . . or
other things I am involved in (Georgian Bay Coast
Trail). There is nothing like being out there . .
. always surprised by what comes back to
you.
We
are measured not by what we possess but by how
generous we are with our heart. I am not talking
money. I am talking about how we give our time and
attention to ideas and events that are outside our
immediate lives - how we try to make differences
in other lives or in our community as a
whole.
Cameron
Helps is such a venture that gives
back.
My
childhood friends' son committed suicide four
years ago this Valentine Day. As unimaginable and
painful that event has been on him and on his
family, he found a way to give back by creating a
suicide awareness support venture entitled Cameron
Helps. Working with the Kids Help Phone, Cameron
Helps supports families in dealing with this
sensitive subject and supports prevention through
physical activities . . . healthy body, health
mind. If you live in Southern Ontario, you may
want to consider the Find a Way Run,.a 5 km run
this coming Father's Day as part of the
Mississauga Waterfront Festival in support of
Cameron Helps. Here's to you Dave, high up on my
Hero scale.
As
Michael Franti says, "If you want to scare
away the vampires, simply guide them into the
light."
Please
take the time to check out the Cameron Helps
website and other ventures I support.
As
far as the trip planning is going, all good. The
training is going well. I skied in the Muskoka
Loppet last weekend and didn't finish last (must
be the new age category I am in now). We are off
to Quebec next weekend to ski in the Canadian
Marathon. This year's goal is 100 km in two
days.
Here's
to keeping it the light!
